Bringing Placid Lassie to the Swiss Alps

Due to the international participation for this photoshoot the text is for once in english.

It all started on Sunday evening after arriving back in Grenchen with a Stinson L-5. As a big surprise, beside the two resident DC-3 there was a third one on the tarmac. Quickly I recognized it is N74589 "Placid Lassie" which flew over the Atlantic as a part of the D-Day squadron to commemorate the 75. D-Day anniversary in the Normandie.

After that she made a little tour through Europe with Stops in Tannheim, Salzburg and Venice, before heading to Switzerland.

After cleaning our Stinson and sitting in the restaurant with a cold beer, the crew arrived and the events took their course. Suddenly everything was organized and we met again the next morning to prepare a sightseeing flight for the American Crew with their old lady, accompanied by two Beech 18.
